Advanced Training Program Policy & Structure
Requirements for Acceptance
- Certificate of completion in a Gestalt Therapy Training program.
- Masters Degree in a related field.
- Letter of Intention accompanied by a full page abstract which includes:
- Chosen field of specialization, i.e., Gestalt and ___________ , defining a practical and theoretical learning edge.
- A statement of commitment, which clearly expresses the understanding that advanced training, involves "self study," research, and successful completion and presentation of a learning project as well as the class time, which will include intensive training.
- Proposal of creative Research Project topic, "Deepening of Gestalt Therapy," in chosen field of study. (If you do not yet know what this is please include two or three ideas that you may want to pursue.)
- How Project will be developed.
Program Specifications
- This is a two-year long program. It consists of a total of twelve Friday Training meetings and twelve 3-hour Group Meetings that are spread out over the two years.
- Friday Training Meetings will be from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in March, April, May, October, November and December. (6 contact hours/training day. 72 hours total over the two year period.)
- 3 hour Group Meetings will be to discuss readings and specialization with a Trainer. These meetings will take place the same months that we have the Friday meetings. This consists of 36 contact hours.
- 24 hours of Gestalt-oriented experiential learning, such as attending and/or presenting at workshops, equine training, etc.
- Complete 12 supervision hours with Trainers.
- Read and discuss: Gestalt Therapy, by Perls, Hefferline and Goodman.
Requirements for Graduation
- Completion of above Requirements and Program Specifications.
- Create portfolio exhibiting your specialty in Gestalt Therapy, including Research Project documentation.
- Presentation to Training Group and Faculty on Project, experience and readings.
Certification Received
- The student will receive a Certificate in Advanced Gestalt Therapy from
the Gestalt Institute of the Rockies.
